What's reading?

Reading is more than follow some words orally or mentally. The procces of reading involves the reader in a complex activity in which he must try to identify what's the author wants to say. The author uses a series of aspects (mophological, syntactic, semantic, pragmatic, etc). With a purpose, he uses these kind of aspects to lead his intentions of persuade or dissuade an idea or a point of view that he considers , and what the reader must do , it's to identify those purposes, decoding the text as a unity. Also I consider writing is a veicle of culture and every time we read , we are trying to understand what a text is representing for a certain people , so that's the reason why I think that when we read, we read a culture.

Also reading is to identify a culture

  4. I agree with you, we have to understand the author's thought and what position he takes. You definition is similar to Monica's definition.
