How much time do you think about what is "life"? For me is urgent to think about it... We need positives changes, and those changes come from our awareness of life. When we notice how the “world” works, we can understand that there are lot injustices, and we can see the ignorance and indifference as their great allies.... When I think about our education system, I wondered… How the world is presented by teachers in the school? Are we learning or teaching with the aim to improve our environment and to generate knowledge? Or, are we learning just to be "Another brick in the wall", as Pink Floyd sang, but with a better salary? I believe that we have to fight for better relationships between people and people, persons and nature (animals and plants)... Our role as a teacher is relevant in this process because the school is a place where a person continues shaping his/her ideas, and a point of view of "reality"... That point of view should be passive or active; it depends of many aspects, and so much of you as a teacher...

I wrote that tinking about Sábato's text... Maybe because i was reflecting about life and my degree in Languages... and because writing is also a kind of resistance.
ReplyDeleteWow Diana... deep words you have said. I agree with you... I think one of the biggest problem in our society is indifference, people don't know how "important" is to "act", we must act in order to react. That is a huge lesson that a few have realized.
ReplyDeleteI belive, that we all think about life, almost all the time, maybe not in a metaphysical way nor a refecive way. we think about our own lives by questioning ourselves whether or not the people in front of me is recognasing my existence( does the girl I'm in love with, fell the same as I do?)(hey... guys are you lisentening?)Our LIVES is continously remked by the recognition of others..
ReplyDeleteYes. We only exist with the other, through the other, in the dimension of the link with the other. Diana is pointing out the urgent need to know which is our role in this reality, when we notice how the world works. We are individuals but we are unity too, we are existing in the same home trying to kill her. Greed.
ReplyDeleteWe need to understand how love works. That's the only way.
Yes, every person has a perception about what is life, and we shape it in relation with the other and in relation with our environment. However, the economic and social systems in which we live divide people and manipulate their life in different ways in order to support those systems… Systems in which people are just: “Another brick in the wall”. Nowadays a person lives so worried to survive, and his attention is centralized only in his nearby social and familiar group, thus day by day that person forget the other… Maybe sometimes we think: “The other is not my problem”, “I can’t help them…” or just we prefer don’t to think about it because is most easy… And finally we think that is the State who has to help them… But the “State” doesn’t want to do it… Why? This is a reality that we have to unmask. I’m sure that we can do more than we think (and you know that not always money is the only way to help). For me, we live in a society where life loses sense; the injustice grow and is reinforced by the indifference because we naturalize the violence, poverty, the unequal relations, etc… For this reason we have to: think about what kind of “life” my society propose for their people, revaluate our relation with nature and with theother… Our role as teachers is crucial in this process.
